The Reverend Wilfredo J. Baez, Ph.D. hails from Staten Island New York. He has served as a United Methodist Pastor since 1996. He has served churches in Adams Basin, Charlotte, Odessa, Ithaca, and Gouverneur area. He has served in human services providing mental health and alcohol and substance abuse counseling and program administration. His doctorate is in Counseling Psychology from Columbia Pacific University. He is a candidate for doctorates in Pastoral Psychology and Theology from the Graduate Theological Foundation and Communications Psychology from the University of Central Nicaragua. He has a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, M.Div. in Theology from Colgate Rochester Crozier Divinity School. He has taught Practical Pastoral Theology and Ethics in Nicaragua and Pastoral Care and Counseling in the United States.
Rev. Baez is married to Marcia Cotton since August 1986. He has two children, Nicolas and Rebeca Cotton-Baez.
Dr. Baez has strong interest in inclusive, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic church development, anti-racism, ecumenism and interfaith work, spiritual formation, and the mentoring and training of pastors. He has extensive knowledge and experience of Christian mysticism, Eastern Spirituality, Inner Christianity, and counseling.
